Would you give your boss the finger?

Joe Fawcett shares an anecdote on his blog about how a colleague of his experienced a true example of cross cultural differences when he transferred from the US office to their London office. I have written before about how gestures sometimes have different meanings across cultures, and this is yet another example of how those differences could be interpreted as offensive or embarrassing. In this case, the gesture was the V-sign; not made in the manner that one would make the victory sign with the palm facing outward, but instead with the palm facing the body. In the UK this sign would pretty much equate to giving someone the middle finger.
